Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match offered a platform for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Established from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
